What DPP-Tool does for your batteries

All Annex XIII information

Annex XIII entered as 64 fields, grouped by family, each with its legal reference and its access level. Fields whose obligation does not apply yet (carbon footprint and recycled content, which depend on Commission acts not yet published; due diligence report, from 18 August 2027) are there, optional, and marked as such.

Four access levels, kept apart

Public information appears on the passport page, its JSON, JSON-LD and PDF. Points 2, 3 and 4 are never published: you send a personal link to a repairer, a recycler, a notified body or an authority. Links expire (90 days by default), can be revoked at any time and every opening is logged. The reader needs no account.

One passport per battery

Each serial number gets its own passport linked to its model, its own QR code (GS1 Digital Link with the serial number) and its own point 4 data: status, state of health, performance and usage values. Battery pages are not indexed by search engines.

Tamper-evident

Every version is sealed in a SHA-256 hash chain that anyone can verify. Restricted data is sealed as a salted fingerprint: an authorised reader can check that what they see is what was sealed, without the public learning anything.

Bulk and integrations

CSV or XLSX import with one column per field, a REST API for models and serial numbers, and a public field list to map your PIM or ERP. Import is included from the Pro plan, the API from Micro, and battery serial numbers from Starter.

Your data stays yours

Questions about the battery passport

Which batteries need a battery passport?

From 18 February 2027: each LMT battery (light means of transport: sealed, 25 kg or less), each industrial battery with a capacity greater than 2 kWh and each electric vehicle battery (Article 77(1)). The 2 kWh threshold applies to industrial batteries only: every LMT and EV battery needs a passport whatever its capacity. Portable and SLI batteries do not need one, but from the same date all batteries carry a QR code (Article 13(6)).

One passport per model, or one per battery?

One per battery. Article 77(1) requires a passport for each battery, and Article 77(2) says it contains information on the battery model and information specific to the individual battery, including information resulting from its use (Annex XIII). DPP-Tool enters the model information once (points 1 to 3) and links it to the passport of each serial number (point 4).

Who has to create it?

The economic operator placing the battery on the market. It assigns the unique identifier the QR code links to (Article 77(3)) and ensures the information is accurate, complete and up to date (Article 77(4)). It may give written authorisation to another operator to act on its behalf.

Who can see the restricted information?

Points 2 and 3: notified bodies, market surveillance authorities and the Commission. Points 2 and 4: persons with a legitimate interest, such as repairers, remanufacturers, second-life operators and recyclers, or for an individual battery its buyer making it available to independent energy aggregators or energy market participants (Article 77(2)). The implementing act that will designate the persons with a legitimate interest (Article 77(9)) was due by 18 August 2026 and was not published as of October 2026: until then you decide who receives a link, and the recipient is recorded with it.

What about rules that are not published yet?

The carbon footprint declaration (Article 7) and the recycled content documentation (Article 8) depend on Commission acts that are not published, so their dates are minimums, not fixed dates (for LMT batteries, the recycled content documentation applies from 18 August 2033, Article 8(1)). The due diligence obligations apply from 18 August 2027 (Regulation (EU) 2025/1561). DPP-Tool keeps these fields optional and marked as pending, so a passport is never presented as incomplete for a rule that does not apply yet.
